July Family Meetup @ Wood Lake Nature Center, Richfield
July 13, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Join informal, fun meetups for families living with autism and related conditions who seek casual social connections with peers. Walk the docks, make whistles from reeds, and listen to beautiful bird songs.
These are flexible gatherings. Come as you are and participate as you please!
All children must have supervising parent or caregiver.
When you arrive, look for Beth. She’s usually with her two children, carrying the large picnic basket with a CEA sign on it. We’ll leave a note if we go out on a hike and will meet back at the center for a snack around 11:30AM.
Mark your calendars for more Meetups:
Saturday, August 17 – 2:00-4:00pm @ Clifton E. French Regional Park, 12605 Rockford Rd, Plymouth, MN
Why CEA Monthly Meetups?
We may have formal supports in schools and clinics, but it’s often through informal connections with other parents and kids that we feel heard, understood, and not so alone. Social isolation and chronic stress are very common for families affected by autism and related disabilities. Social connections are central to our overall well-being. They build our capacity to navigate and grown through challenges.
What will we do?
We play and explore the gathering space (i.e. nature center building or main playground) for 30 minutes before setting out on a walk. We’ll leave our CEA sign and a note on when we’ll return. After a walk, we’ll gather at the meeting space for snacks and a book, activity, craft or casual chat time.
What would YOU show up for?
Our intention is connection, so let us know what kind of community you want to be a part of. What activities would you show up for? What times work best for your family? What locations do you love or want to explore?
