Parenting as a Team When Living with Autism
September 18, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Free
Whether you’re married, living together, or not, parenting as a team is essential when living with autism. But that’s not always easy.
Join Autism Speaks and Center for Engaging Autism for a night out where Dr. Leann Smith will discuss the unique stress autism places on families across the lifespan. It is through education that parents can best support their child, and learning how to work together is the first step to reducing stress and creating a harmonious family life – regardless of your family’s composition.
Speaker: Dr. Leann Smith, PhD is an Associate Scientist at the Waisman Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research focuses on understanding the impact of developmental disabilities on the family. Dr. Smith is currently developing and evaluating the Transitioning Together program, an education and support program for families of adolescents with autism spectrum disorders.
Event is free, but you must RSVP through Autism Speaks, Minnesota, here.
